wine and craft beer
The hills surrounding Seneca Lake are dotted with dozens of wineries. In fact, there are over 50 wineries from which to choose. Whether you prefer dry, sweet, or something in between. Red, white, or rose. The diversity of offerings and experiences vary as widely as your personal taste, so we’re sure you’ll find the perfect wine for you!
Over 30 wineries have come together over the years to form the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, which plays host to unique and fun events throughout the year. The Finger Lakes Beer Trail also winds its way through Schuyler County and the Finger Lakes. Craft beer enthusiasts can try hand-crafted pale ale, amber lager, or any number of specialty offerings at one of the many microbreweries in the region.
Best of all, Schuyler County is ideally located at the base of Seneca Lake, which makes for easy access to not only Seneca Lake, but also to Keuka Lake to the west and Cayuga Lake to the east, both of which have wineries, distilleries, and craft breweries to explore!
Schuyler County is also home to the region’s first standalone distillery (having opened in 2009) and recently, hard cider production has taken off. From whiskey to bourbon, grappa to gin; sweet cider, dry cider, or something in the middle – the diversity of our offerings speaks for itself. Tasting your way through the Finger Lakes has never been more delicious!
There is a saying in the culinary world, “What grows together, goes together.” Local chefs utilize local ingredients whenever possible to craft delicious cuisine that embodies the spirit of the Finger Lakes.
