Water Sports

Get out on the water

Water activities are abundant on our many lakes and waterways including Seneca, Cayuta, Waneta, and Lamoka Lakes, where you can find sailing, boating, paddling, swimming, fishing, and more.

Paddle

If you'd like to rent a kayak, our outfitters, including Summit to Stream Adventures and Seneca Lake Kayak, can provide expert advice, gear, and even offer guided trips.

Fish

If you'd like to fish but lack a license, be sure to visit Finger Lakes Preserve, a secluded and private rainbow trout fishing preserve that is fully accessible for fishermen and women of all ages and experience levels. We also have a number of expert charter fishing operations and guide services who can help get you out on the water and casting a line in no time! There is great fishing on all of the lakes and Catharine Creek boasts one of the best salmon runs in the area each spring.

Swim

Leave your cares behind as you dip your toes into our sapphire lakes. Be soothed by the sounds of water lapping against a pebble shoreline. You can swim in the lake at Clute Park in Watkins Glen or Smith Park in Burdett. Both parks are open seasonally, with lifeguards on duty. For complete details, check out our swim page.

Sail and Cruise

Enjoy a lunch or dinner cruise courtesy of Captain Bill's or take one of their shorter, hour-long sightseeing tour aboard The Stroller. Set off on a sunset sail aboard the Schooner True Love. The experience is yours to make! Visit our cruise page for additional details.
